Ann Draper

About Me

My name is Ann Draper and I teach second grade at Edison Elementary.  This is my nineteenth year as a teacher.  I taught for two years at a school called Fox Hills.  Then I came to Edison and I’ve been teaching here ever since.  I taught kindergarten for eleven years and now have taught second grade for eight years.  I graduated from Westminster College, then went back to Westminster to get my Reading Endorsement.  I also have an English as a Second Language Endorsement.

I have a huge extended family and we live all over the country.  I love to go visit them and when I do we often go hiking, water skiing, or kayaking.  I also love to cook, read and write stories.  My favorite summer memory is the summer I spent in London and Paris.  I had the time of my life and never wanted to come home.

The best children’s book I ever read was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith.  Reading that book changed my life and made me start writing my own stories.  I read that book again as an adult and loved it even more.  My favorite TV show was The West Wing because they used real events that happened in the White House and in government.  I love animals more than anything and when I am finished teaching I hope to get a job working with animals.  That would be wonderful!
