About Me

Year in position: 7th

Years in education: 19

Credentials: Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University ; Alternative Licensure from University of Texas-Brownsville; Master of Library Science from Emporia State University (Kansas) ; ESL, Media, and Educational Technology Endorsements

Family: I was raised in Michigan with 4 brothers and 3 sisters, near grandparents and cousins. I have one son and daughter-in-law (living in Ecuador), one daughter (attending college in NYC), and another daughter (attending college at BYU). I live near Liberty Park with my husband, one dog (Neo), two cats (Cupid and Stormy), and three house guests.

Hobbies: I love reading, hiking, writing book reviews, hanging out with family, going to restaurants, watching movies, and traveling.

Favorite summer memory: I spent every summer of my childhood (and most of those of my adult years too) at our family cottage on Lake Huron in Ontario, Canada, with lots of family. I LOVE it. The beach, sunsets, clouds, wind, and company cannot be beat.

Favorite children's book: My newest favorite book is The Wishtree by K. Applegate. It is a story where the main character is a tree! When racial hatred hits the tree’s neighborhood, it works with its critter friends to restore human kindness and hope.

Favorite movies: I rewatch the movies Freaky Friday and Galaxy Quest regularly. They make me laugh!
