Principal's Message

Welcome to our school website!

We are so excited about the 2022.2023 school year. We are continuing to work diligently on increasing student skills in literacy, math, and science.  We have been recognized for the Highest Growth for a Title I Elementary School in the Salt Lake City School District for 2021.2022 school year.  We anticipate continuing this excellence again this year.  As a faculty and staff our yearly theme for this year is Instruction = Results

Parents and caregivers, please be sure to check in with your child’s teacher every day!  As a school, we will be using See Saw to communicate between teachers and caregivers.  We will also continue to communicate through monthly newsletters and periodic messages conveyed through School Messenger.

Please see the schedule for our School Community Council meetings under the link on our web page. The meetings are open to everyone, and we would love to have more parents and caregivers participate.

Our school-wide focus continues to be reading and writing.  Our goal and commitment are to have ALL students reading at grade-level proficiency in three years.  We are working towards this goal by building relationships, engaging students, implementing school-wide reading and writing interventions and passionately using data to guide instruction and next steps!  As an Edison team we know we can reach this goal.  It will take parents, faculty, staff, and students’ commitment to grow and increase!

Here at Edison, we have a dedicated, highly educated, and skilled staff. We are committed to ensuring your child receives excellent and equitable learning.  We would ask for your support in accomplishing this goal.  We would ask that

1st:  you ensure your child is read to or reads every night for 20 minutes.  The more we read, the better we read.

2nd:  you ensure your child gives service to another person every day for at least 10 minutes.  As students look outside themselves and think about others, kindness and empathy increases.

3rd:  you ensure you have a two-way conversation with your child about the world around them every day.  As students grow in language and vocabulary, both speaking and reading skills will increase.

Our commitment to you is that as an Edison Elementary team, we will do “Whatever it takes” to bring excellence and equity to your child’s education—in every classroom, every day – Equity in Action!
